Don’t Be Embarrassed To Talk To Your Doctor About Armpit Sweating and Hyperhidrosis!
They've heard it before and will hear it again. Actually, they've heard much worse than that (safe bet).
The main idea of this article, what we really want you know, VERY important:
It is absolutely crucial to work consistently with a medical doctor (the Doc) to help treat armpit sweating and hyperhidrosis.
Then we'll talk about treatments that the Doc'll probably dole out to ya'. We'll provide an original Bye-Bye article about each of the excessive sweat treatments.
(Yea, we're good.)
So without further ado...
Why is it Important to Work Consistently With a Good Doc?
First off, it's always a good idea to get professional help with important issues. Second, chances are the Doc'll give you treatments that stop (or at least reduce) excessive armpit sweating. Third, (and most importantly) if the Doc can't give you something that works, they'll be willing (and able) to vouch for you that nothing has worked to stop your sweating.
Why Would I Need a Doctor to Vouch For Me?
There are a few standard treatment for excessive armpit sweating that are usually covered by insurance (prescription antiperspirants and oral medications for hyperhidrosis). These work for most people to stop excessive sweating.
But if they don't work, you're going to want to try other things. Like possibly botox (which works really well, by the way). But the only problem is, botox is typically considered a "cosmetic" or "elective" procedure, and is rarely covered by insurance.
There's also a bunch of other "alternative treatments" that are considered elective or not a "medical necessity" and not covered by insurance. Things like acupuncture and hypnosis for hyperhidrosis have also cured excessive armpit sweating for many. But they're kinda expensive (and not covered by insurance).
That's no big deal if you're made out of money. But if you're like most people, you'd probably like to shift some (or all) of that bill to the good-ole' insurance company.
So if you're working with a good Doc, and they can vouch for you that you've tried all the traditional treatments for hyperhidrosis to no avail, then these "alternative treatments" can become a "medical necessity."
Once it is determined to be a medical necessity, then the insurance company will fork out some dough.
So What Type Of Doctor Should I Go To?
You don’t have to go to a dermatologist! Not unless ya' want to... Most general physicians will have everything you need to treat excessive sweating.
Even if you have a very extreme case of armpit sweating, you'll probably be just fine with a regular Doc.
Obviously Speed Stick, Old Spice, and Degree just don’t cut it. If you're like most people with excessive armpit sweating, you've probably tried every deodorant/antiperspirant you could get your hands on.
If you haven’t tried a more powerful over-the-counter antiperspirant, now would be a good time to do that.
They have worked for many fellow-sweaters.
If those don't work for you, there are some more powerful solutions for excessive sweating armpits.
So What's My Doctor Going To Give Me?
The first arrow in the Doc's quiver will be a prescription strength antiperspirant.
There are a bunch of different brands of these prescription antiperspirants. One of the more common ones is called Drysol. It consists of about 20% aluminum chloride as it's active ingredient.

Some people respond better to over-the-counter antiperspirants for hyperhidrosis than they do to prescription antiperspirants. So a little experimentation may be in order for you.
This leads right into what we say over and over...
Everybody's Different.
The more you experiment with different excessive sweat solutions, the sooner you'll learn what works for YOU.
That's our main goal: To find out what stops YOUR armpit sweat and hyperhidrosis.
This of course requires patience...An indispensable quality in your quest to stop underarm perspiration.
Whatever you do, keep following Mechanic Method (what's this?).
Implement MM1: Body and MM2: Mind and be consistent with them for at least three weeks. I absolutely dare you to do this and see how it reduces or totally stops your excessive sweating. Mechanic Method is a natural and permanent cure for hyperhidrosis.
But the challenge is staying consistent. Are you up for the challenge?
Please be aware...
Nothing is going to change overnight. Even going through the Doc is going to take patience and consistence to stop armpit sweating.
Is There Any Light At The End Of The Tunnel?
Yes, there absolutely is.
A majority of excessive underarm sweating cases (~65%) are resolved with prescription antiperspirants.
Other Things The Doc May Try
If the prescription antiperspirants don’t stop your armpit sweat, there are also several oral medications prescribed to cure underarm sweating. Some people have success with oral meds, but most people report that the side-effects are too disruptive.
A third, newer method that your doctor can help you with is botox for armpit sweating. We never did try this personally, but it supposedly works really well. Couple things--it is kinda expensive (unless you get your insurance to cover it), and it also hurts a little.
New methods of treating hyperhidrosis are constantly being created and tested. As we research and learn more, we'll post for you.
Remember...
Excessive armpit sweating and hyperhidrosis is cured and prevented through a systematic process. Follow the steps of this process carefully.
Take Massive Action. Be patient and consistent (can't stress those two qualities enough).
The results you want and deserve are guaranteed to come!
