Underarm sweating is a big headache for anyone who suffers from it, since underarm sweat is very unexposed to air, making it very difficult to evaporate. As a result, it causes perspiration sweat stains on the shirt. For some people who suffer from more serious cases of underarm sweating, their sweat may start running down their shirt, making it very obvious to people around him or her that he/she is sweating excessively. Because of that, their shirts are usually stained with sweat. This article aims to talk about 4 perspiration stain removal tips to help you clean the stains effectively.
The first perspiration stain removal method is to use hydrogen peroxide. Using equal amounts of water and hydrogen peroxide on the sweat stain, soak it for about 30 minutes, and then launder on cool and air dry. This method works particularly well for white fabrics. You’ll need to be more careful when using it on colored fabrics though, since hydrogen peroxide has some whitening properties that might bleach your clothes. The hydrogen peroxide is able to break down the perspiration residue on your shirt.
The second method would be using water and vinegar. Use 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and ½ a cup of water on the sweat stains, and soak it for about 30 minutes, before laundering on cool and dry. This is an alternative method to hydrogen peroxide.
Sometimes, even after the sweat stains have been removed on your shirt, the perspiration odor still stays. To remove the odor, you can soak your clothes in a solution of several spoons of salt dissolved in warm water.
Finally, if you want to save yourself the trouble of having to clean perspiration stains regularly, you should try using preventive methods to stop underarm sweating. These can include using antiperspirants on your underarms. Other methods that people use include wearing extra clothes underneath so that you can change shirts regularly when you start armpit sweating heavily. I do not like this idea though as I never believed that you should try too hard to cover up the effects. Instead I’ve always believed that the right way to cure excessive sweating is to find out the real causes and deal with them.
