Sleep Tests To Determine Our Sleep Quality
Publish Date : 9/12/2007 10:41:00 PM   Source : Fitness News Onlypunjab.com

Have you encountered this problem of having sufficiently adequate hours of sleep the previous night, and still, you are facing the problem of drowsiness the next day? How does the lack of top quality sleep affect us, both physically and mentally? Did we ever slow down and start to think that we actually need to start improving on our quality of sleep?

It is a well-publicized fact that if you are not getting enough sleep, you are not alone. About half of the adult population has a major problem with getting good quality sleep, and face drowsiness in the daytime. Drowsiness is a signal to us that we are not getting sufficient sleep, and we can be highly prone to dangerous acts like falling asleep while driving, in which the consequences can be devastating.

Mentally, a deprivation of sleep can cause people to become stressed easily and henceforth affects the health. The scenario in our society now is that some prominent people talks about going on a work routine with tiny amounts of sleep daily, and this can prompt readers to follow their sleeping habits, as they will think this seems the way to go if they ever hope to be as successful as them.

If you are not getting enough sleep, you probably already know. Sleep deprivation may cause undue stress, poor concentration, mood swings, irritability and poor memory.

However, if you are not sure, there are several online sleep tests to help us understand our quality of sleep better. These tests are just a quick gauge, and professional help and judgment are still highly recommended. Some tests include the Simmons sleep deprivation quiz and the Epworth sleepiness scale.

Sleep disorder is treatable and the quicker we seek help for it, the less unwarranted impact it will have on us, mentally and physically. There are numerous ways to immediately improve our sleep status, and on a personal note, following a routine sleeping hours is the most effective for me. Relaxing myself before bedtime is also an important step.

Of course, besides these methods, there are other remedies which are easily available from books, magazines and the internet. Improving our sleep quality will go a long way in addressing the problems of our health and mind.
