The Adirondack Mountains are a natural, ‘forever wild’, playground for worldwide travelers. The area boasts ample opportunities for winter relaxation combined with Olympic sporting events, ski mountains, cross-country skiing, and quaint shopping villages.
One of the most attractive spots in the Adirondacks is Kiwassa Lake Bed & Breakfast. The B&B is an elegant home situated on the water’s edge of Lake Kiwassa, amidst 20 acres of forested preserve, just three miles outside the Village of Saranac Lake, an All American City.
The wooded setting provides ample quiet and extreme privacy, and million dollar views! It is only 10 miles from the Olympic Village of Lake Placid, which means a steady stream of athletes and sports enthusiasts. Here, innkeepers Cliff & Marjorie Cochran have been welcoming international travelers from as far away as Holland, Germany, and Switzerland since 2003.
Kiwassa Lake Bed & Breakfast, which is a member of the Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Chambers of Commerce, is currently offering a 40% discount for guests who stay at least two nights. Upcoming events, which will bring an influx of guests, include the New Year’s Day Master Ski Jump, and the America's Cup Bobsled & Skeleton in late January. Saranac Lake’s Winter Carnival and Ice Palace is scheduled for February 4-13 followed by Lake Placid’s Empire State Winter Games, scheduled for February 25-27.
Two and a half hours from Albany, NY, and 6 from New York City, the B&B is usually booked by professionals longing to get away for an extended weekend. “Many guests book Martin Luther King and President’s Weekends long in advance,” says Marjorie Cochran. “Some have even come back with friends and family to share our B&B.”
This premier B&B boasts four oversized, newly constructed suites with private baths. “The rooms are so close to the lake that when the windows are open, you’ll hear the water lapping on the dock below,” says Marjorie. Each morning guests are treated to a gourmet full breakfast, such as German Apple Pancake or Strudel Baked French Toast, which is served in a warm and cozy dining room, overlooking the lake, in front of the fire.
A stay at Kiwassa Lake Bed & Breakfast will provide a relaxing, secluded, and welcoming atmosphere any time of the year. With current discounts being offered to guests who stay for at least two nights, it is an affordable spot for a quick getaway.
