Pacer Irfan Pathan took 11 wickets and Sachin Tendulkar cracked his career-best unbeaten 248 as India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test here Monday.
India needed just two wickets on the fourth day of the match Monday and Pathan and Zaheer Khan took one each as the hosts were all out for 202, giving the visitors an emphatic win with almost two days to spare.
Pathan was adjudged Man of the Match for his 11 for 96 - the first 10-wicket haul in his ninth Test.
Bangladesh started the day at 170 for eight, with Manjural Islam Rana on 50 and Tapash Baisya on 17, and still needed 172 runs to make India bat a second time.
Bangladesh lost their first wicket of the day after Rana and Baisya added 32 runs more, taking their ninth-wicket partnership to 69 runs.
Pathan struck first when Baisya was caught by Tendulkar for 29 (35 balls, 5x4s).
Then Zaheer, who had established a world record in Test cricket of 75 by a number 11 batsman Sunday, wrapped up the win as he had Rana caught by wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik for 69 (116 balls, 12x4s), the highest score of the innings.
During the match, Tendulkar hit a world-record equalling 34th century to emulate Sunil Gavaskar and set several other records.
The second Test starts in Chittagong Thursday.
