Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), leading provider of ultra-scalable, realtime business and service assurance software, today announced that Catch Communications (OSE: CATCH) has implemented the Netcool(R) suite for enhanced availability and service-level management of its rapidly expanding DSL broadband infrastructure. Headquartered in Bodo, Norway, Catch Communications is the largest alternative broadband provider on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
"In a time of consolidation in the broadband market Catch is going through a period of advanced growth. Catch needed a scalable service assurance solution that could easily integrate with existing and future management systems, and customer and network inventories to provide enhanced visibility across our broadband infrastructure," said Brian Morsund, Operations Manager of Catch Communications. "The Netcool solution was able to quickly demonstrate a clear advantage over the other products in the market and has enabled us to ensure our customers' Quality of Service during a time of market place consolidation. By relying on the Netcool suite for service assurance, we are confident that we will be able to handle future network and customer growth in the best possible way."
After a proof of concept and competitive analysis of service assurance solutions, Catch Communications selected Micromuse's Netcool suite for its ability to demonstrate a clear business advantage. Catch Communications is using Netcool solutions to collect and consolidate data from various network elements and silo-based information systems to produce a centralized, realtime, web-enabled customer focused view. This helps Catch Communications operations to quickly identify and prioritize service-affecting infrastructure faults before they impact customer service.
Teleca OSS, a Micromuse accredited partner in the Scandinavian region, was responsible for the design, implementation and integration of Catch Communications' service assurance solution.
"In complex infrastructures where service uptime is business-critical, Micromuse is able to demonstrate a clear return on investment in terms of cost savings and operational efficiencies," said Richard Lowe, Micromuse's Senior Vice President for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. "Our proven Netcool technology is helping to assure service uptime across the world, and we are pleased to welcome Catch Communications to a distinguished list of DSL customers including Telecom Italia, Cable & Wireless, Comcast, Roadrunner, and Fastweb Italy."
