Ellen Kreitzberg, associate professor of law at Santa Clara University's School of Law is an expert on capital punishment law, and director of the annual Death Penalty College, and can decipher some of the most complex issues surrounding the death penalty.
Kreitzberg can offer a unique and insightful view into understanding capital punishment, death qualification of a capital case jury, the role of aggravating and mitigating circumstances, and methods of execution.
Kreitzberg has published numerous articles on the subject of capital punishment, and recently authored "Understanding Capital Punishment Law," published in Feb. 2004.
The Death Penalty College, a six-day residential training program, is held each August at SCU and brings together over 65 capital defense counsels from around the country who have pending capital cases. More than 20 defense lawyers are invited as faculty members of the Death Penalty College to teach, discuss and brainstorm upcoming trials.
