Design/build steel contractor R.F. Stearns is pleased to announce the completion of the new 72,100 square foot C.F. Tigard Elementary School located in Tigard, Oregon.
The project included demolition of the existing 82-year-old building to make way for the new state-of-the-art facility that will accommodate the continuing growth of the community.
Stearns cost-effective structural design-assistance and value engineering are credited with providing innovative solutions to potential cost overruns and scheduling delays. Stearns also accelerated the project by providing on-site management to maintain schedule and quality, ensure safety and provide support to the construction crews.
Steve Miller, President of R.F. Stearns explained, "We proposed an alternate contractual method of allowing certain critical elements to proceed before concluding a conventional bidding process. This enabled us to achieve an aggressive steel schedule, and meet the project's strict budgetary guidelines."
