Bangladesh cricket coach Dav Whatmore today
said that the upcoming series against India would be a tough one
since the latter had a very strong batting line up.
India's tour to Bangladesh has been delayed after a terrorist
outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad threatened that its activists would kill
the Indian cricketers if they visited the country. The teams are
to play two tests and three one-day matches.
"They have got a very strong batting line up. Like most things, I
think potentially in the sub-continent they could be very
destructive. But to say that because we played two spinners in
the past, we will play two spinners is not necessarily the case.
But what we are saying is that we are aware that coming from
India, a set of batsmen will play spinners probably better than
most. We are aware of that but we will try and get the best
combination for the Test match and do as well as we can" said
Whatmore.
About his team's strategy for Tests against India, he said his
boys would have to get the Indian team out twice to put pressure.
"We are trying to get 10 wickets. Every time we get at field we
are going to get wickets. No questions and we are in the places
of what we think might be the best combination for the first test
match," said Whatmore.
On the other hand, New Delhi gave the green signal to its cricket
team to tour Bangladesh. The matches would be played as per the
schedule. The first Test begins Thursday in Dhaka. (ANI)
