Chicago Bulls players and coaches will kick off their regular season and this year’s “Through Thick and Thin” fan support campaign on Friday, October 29 with luncheon to benefit charity. Celebrity Rikki Lee Travolta will be on hand.
Rikki Lee Travolta, who recently moved his wife Sonia and family to a home in Chicago’s northwest suburbs, will be on hand at the Chicago Bulls’ 2004 Tip-Off Luncheon, Friday, October 29 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Travolta is a figurative poster model for the Bulls’ “Through Thick and Thin” fan support campaign.
He demonstrated his support of the Bulls team throughout their struggles by requiring the publisher of his best selling novel “My Fractured Life” to use only the Bulls’ team colors for the cover of the book.
The Tip-Off Luncheon marks the official start of the Bulls 2004-2005 season. Players, coaches, and front office personnel will discuss the team’s expectations, goals, and direction.
Long-time Bulls play-by-play announcer Neil Funk will lead the festivities.
Travolta stars as legendary knight Sir Lancelot in the upcoming release “Camelot: Excalibur” and is currently recording his third album at Northbrook’s Backstage Audio. Filming of the screen adaptation of “My Fractured Life” is scheduled to begin next year.
All proceeds from the Tip-Off Luncheon will benefit CharitaBulls, the philanthropic arm of the Chicago Bulls.
Since its inception in 1987, CharitaBulls has distributed tens of millions of dollars in support of educational and recreational activities for Chicago’s youth. Among its many beneficiaries are Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Public Library, Chicago Park District, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and a number of local non-profit organizations.
Travolta first became a friend of the Bulls organization when he was brought to Chicago as the first celebrity guest star in the "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" franchise.
