Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Friday urged Pakistan to buy wheat from India rather that Russia.
Addressing a meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry and attended by Pakistani Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, Amarinder Singh made a passionate appeal for closer trade ties between the two countries.
"Why are you buying wheat from Russia? We have huge reserves and can supply it immediately," Amarinder Singh said.
Amarinder Singh said wheat and rice from India were going to Pakistan via Mumbai and Dubai as much higher rates.
He said India and Pakistan had to forget the past and move ahead.
"If the Berlin Wall could be demolished, what stops us from breaking barriers," he said.
