To respond to a critical and growing need, Johns Hopkins Business is introducing a Competitive Intelligence Graduate Certificate program starting in January 2005. Cipher announced today that CEO Peter McKenney has been officially approved to teach the first in a series of five courses required to earn the new certificate. Mr. McKenney will teach Competitive Intelligence (course number 773.721) at the Columbia campus.
In this course students will apply analytical and socio-technical techniques that greatly improve organizational decision making as related to CI, and will gain a full understanding of the issues related to the collection, analysis, and management of external information. This valuable knowledge can immediately be put to use by students in the professional marketplace.
“The demand is increasing for CI professionals in the Baltimore-Washington area. To be successful in the marketplace you must possess competitive intelligence regardless of what industry you are in,” said Johns Hopkins program director Dr. Jay Liebowitz. “We are pleased to have Peter McKenney on board to teach the CI course. He has years of practical experience in the field coupled with academic acumen – a combination that will truly benefit all of our students.”
In addition to his work with both public and private sector clients, Mr. McKenney speaks extensively in the field of strategic research. His work concentrates on linking proven methods for competitive intelligence and knowledge management to corporate strategy as applied to traditional line of business functions. A native of Massachusetts, Mr. McKenney served in the US Naval Submarine force, is a certified nuclear engineer and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
Registration is now open for the new course. Visit the program web site for more information: http://www.business.jhu.edu/its/ci.cfm. |
