EbzB Productions Honored with Constance Welsh Theatre

EbzB Productions, a professional touring theatre based in Apex, NC, is the 2004 recipient of the CONSTANCE WELSH THEATRE FOR YOUTH AWARD. This award is presented each year to an outstanding program providing theatre experiences to young people.
“This award is given by the North Carolina Theatre Conference in recognition of the outstanding accomplishments of EbzB Productions in bringing compelling stories to the students of North Carolina schools: the story of racial integration in EbzB Productions’ Brown vs. Board of Education and the invention of powered flight in The Wrights of Passage. EbzB Productions inspires us all to use the medium of theatre to educate entertain and motivate young and old, alike.” – Terry Milner, Executive Director, North Carolina Theatre Conference

The CONSTANCE WELSH THEATRE FOR YOUTH AWARD, presented by NCTC, is named in honor of Constance Welsh, a beloved artist, teacher, friend and mentor. Ms. Welsh left a huge void in the NC theatre community when she died in 1991. She founded the Tarradiddle Players, now the professional touring company at Children's Theatre of Charlotte, and the Davidson Community Players. She also encouraged the creation of Charlotte Repertory Theatre among many others. She inspired many artists and theatres that fondly remember her tireless support and enthusiastic participation.

EbzB Productions receives this award in recognition of its outstanding performance programs seen by thousands of young people across North Carolina and beyond. Founded in 1998 by Serena Ebhardt and David zum Brunnen, EbzB Productions’ mission is to develop theatrical works that promote integrity, self-discovery and positive transformation of individuals, artists, audiences, and communities. EbzB artists are dedicated to the promotion of dramatic art as a valuable tool for all individuals. Additionally Serena and David are trained by the John F. Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts to teach workshops for students and for the professional development of teachers. EbzB Productions is featured in the North Carolina Arts Council’s Touring Artist Directory and is a member of the North Carolina Presenters Consortium, North Carolina Theatre Conference and Arts North Carolina. EbzB youth performances include The Wrights of Passage, Brown vs. Board of Education, and The Night Before Christmas Carol. EbzB has enjoyed partnerships with the Newspapers-in-Education Program; North Carolina Museum of Art; The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts in Cape May, New Jersey; North Carolina Association of Educators & the National Education Association. EbzB Productions tours nationally and also offers a variety of productions for adult and family audiences.
