Ellen DeGeneres is the latest the winner of a “Flossy,” for her writing and comedy involving dental floss. The Flossy was presented to Ellen as part of National Flossing Day, an annual event sponsored by the National Flossing Council (NFC) on Nov. 26th, the day after Thanksgiving.
Dr. Armand Lione, President of the NFC, said, “Ellen’s latest book, ‘The Funny Thing Is…’ is full of references to the importance of floss. She’s an outstanding example of what the Flossy is meant to award.”
A previous winner of the Flossy was Jerry Seinfeld, who has done a popular dental floss ad that can be found in many dental offices across the US.
The Flossy is a small statue on which a winged victory figure holds a container of dental floss overhead. The statue also serves as a dental floss dispenser.
The NFC is a Washington DC organization that promotes the use of dental floss in the media. For additional information, see http://www.flossing.org or contact the NFC (e-mail protected from spam bots) 202.544.0711.
