Promising to make life easier for farmers, Escorts India Saturday announced the launch of a new 60 hp tractor with power steering and other features.
Announcing this at the Agrotech-2004 agricultural fair being held here, Escorts' marketing and commercial head Deepak Mahendru said the company had chosen Punjab for the launch as farmers here easily adopted the latest technology.
Mahendru said the unique features of the new tractor include power steering, 12 forward and 12 reverse gears and oil-immersed brakes.
He said that after setting a target of manufacturing over 37,500 tractors in the current financial year ending Mar 31, Escorts would now concentrate on the export market.
"Escorts has already tied up joint ventures in the US and Poland to sell its tractors in North America and Europe," Mahendru added.
"We will be exporting 5,000 tractors in 2004-05. Our target for 2005-06 will be 10,000 units," he said.
