A three-day national seminar on marketing of fruits, vegetables and livestock gets underway here Monday.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will inaugurate the seminar, being organised by the Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (HPAMB) and the Nagpur-based Indian Society of Agriculture Marketing (ISAM), officials said.
"Around 150 papers have been received from economists, scientists and farm marketing experts for the seminar," HPAMB secretary O.C. Verma said.
"Two sessions will be devoted to shortcomings in agri-marketing infrastructure and marketing of livestock nationwide, while one session will discuss horticulture in Himachal Pradesh."
Prominent speakers will include Prabhu Pingali, a director with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, and Prof. Radhakrishnan from the Indira Gandhi Centre for Economic Policy and Research Institute, Mumbai.
