Flu Shot Express, Washington’s flu shot clinic organizer, today announced a unique all inclusive luxury motorcoach service to Canadian flu shot clinics, which will be available to all US citizens ages 18 and older residing in King, Snohomish, Pierce counties, as long as they are in good health and have a passport or other acceptable identification to cross the Canadian border.
The Flu Shot Express shuttle service was created in response to a critical flu vaccine shortage. Shortages have resulted in long lines and kept all but a small percentage of US citizens from receiving their annual influenza vaccination. Service will be available for as low as $99 and includes:
· Round-trip escorted service on 54-person luxury motorcoach (bathroom onboard)
· Flu shot administered by licensed medical professional
· Lunch in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
· DVD Movies during the ride
All flu shots will be administered in Canadian medical clinics by licensed nursing professionals under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. Round-trip transportation to Vancouver has been chartered through Beeline Tours of Seattle. Participants will be picked up at select locations throughout Western Washington.
“We created the Flu Shot Express shuttle service after witnessing incredibly long lines for the scarce supply of flu shots being rationed only to people in selected high-risk categories,” said Mark Muchnick, Managing Director of Flu Shot Express. “Literally thousands of citizens have been denied basic preventative health care against a potentially fatal virus due to deficiencies in providing an adequate vaccine supply. We decided to make flu shots available to anyone who needs or wants them, regardless of status.” Mr. Muchnick also stated, “These vaccinations are intended as a public service, and a portion of the profits from the Flu Shot Express shuttle bus operation will be donated to Life Changing Services (www.lifechangingservices.org), a 501[c non-profit organization that has been feeding and clothing the homeless population of Seattle since 2002.
Pricing and Availability
The complete service is offered for $119.00. A $20 discount is available for those who pre-register, bringing the total cost down to $99.00. It is recommended that people complete the reservation form online or call the Flu Shot Express hotline. This price is effective immediately and lasts for as long as limited supplies are available. A pneumonia vaccination is available for an additional $30. Payments are accepted via cash or money orders only; no checks or credit cards will be accepted. This service is provided on a first come, first served basis.
The first bus departs on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 8:00 AM from the Tacoma Mall parking lot in Tacoma, Washington (behind Krispy Kreme Doughnuts). Travelers are required to bring their passport or birth certificate and state issued picture ID and are advised to dress warmly. Additional shuttles will be announced on the Flu Shot Express web site and by recorded message on the Flu Shot Express hotline.
