Grapefruit juice can lower your blood cholesterol

A Hebrew University researcher has  claimed
that  juice  extracted  from a local form  of  grapefruit  called
Pomelit is capable of lowering your blood cholesterol and enahnce
antioxidant activity in the bloodstream.

This,  he  says, reduces chances of blocked  heart  arteries  and
heart attacks in people.

According  to   Professor Caspi, the head of  the  cardiovascular
institute at Jerusalem's Kaplan Hospital, patients consuming  the
highest amount of Pomelit showed a significant increase in  blood
albumin and a decrease in blood fibrinogen levels.

Other  research groups from universities in Japan,  South  Korea,
Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland carried out similar  tests
and obtained positive results.

The  researchers concluded their findings with  a  recommendation
that hypercholesterolic patients add fresh pomelit juice to their
daily   diets  as  a  likely  beneficial  preventive   to   heart
disease.(ANI)
