Hexamail, the leading software company specializing in intelligent email routing, management, auditing and spam blocking, announced today that it has released a new version of its Hexamail Guard antispam solution with advanced anti phishing protection.
Phishing attacks consist of a fraudster sending email purporting to be from a reputable financial institution or e-commerce site. Typically the email coerces the recipient to visit an included website link and enter personal or financial details or carry out a transaction. Commonly the email and the web sites they link to are cleverly designed to resemble those of the financial institution, but the information entered is actually sent to the fraudster.
Phishing represents the latest severe threat in corporate email systems hijacked and used for fraudulent or malicious activities. The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) recorded 1,142 distinct attacks in October 2004 alone.
Many corporates already acknowledge their responsibility in creating a safe working environment. Increasingly, they are becoming aware of their duty to also maintain a safe email environment for their employees: protecting them from malicious email attacks and reducing wasted hours dealing with unsolicited email.
