Composer/songwriter team Dapo Torimiro and Janet Cole Valdez have recently signed with Connection III Entertainment to create the music for TV movie “Christmas At Water’s Edge.” Starring Keshia Knight Pulliam (of “Cosby” fame,) and Tom Bosley (“Happy Days,”) “Christmas At Water’s Edge” will have its world premier on nationally syndicated television this December.
Dapo Torimiro, a multi-instrumentalist from Nigeria, is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the hottest R&B/hip-hop producers on the current music scene. He has played with such legendary musicians as Alfonso Johnson and Vinnie Colaiuta, and is currently performing with the hot jazz/r+b recording group Impromp2.
Janet Cole Valdez, a former Motown staff songwriter, has numerous movie, television and recording credits to her name. According to Valdez: “Working on ‘Christmas At Water’s Edge’ was a great joy. This multicultural family drama is touching as well as entertaining. What a great way to get an early jump on the holiday spirit.”
“Christmas At Water’s Edge” marks Torimiro/Valdez’ first collaboration, and features several new holiday songs reminiscent of timeless classics. Torimiro’s underscore combines the edginess of modern hip-hop interwoven with subtle elements of classical and jazz. According to Torimiro: "This project gave me an opportunity to combine diverse styles of music into an integrated pallette. Giving a musical 'voice" to the characters and scenes took me on an inspiring journey; I hope our audiences enjoy the journey as much as I did."
"Christmas At Water's Edge" is a modern twist on a timeless theme. A wealthy college student, Layla Turner (Ms.Pulliam) discovers that the spirit of Christmas lies beyond Gucci when she helps organize a holiday concert for a youth center, even though she must team with Tre, a cantankerous hip/hop cabbie, whom she has no idea is really an angel in training.
"Christmas At Water's Edge" will be airing on various dates throughout the month of December.
