The Board of International Monetary
Fund (IMF), conveying its acceptance of Pakistan's request to end
its ongoing poverty alleviation programme pre-maturely, told that
the monitoring of Pakistan would cease with the discontinuance of
the programme.
According to The News.
the last two installments of 26.20
dollars under IMF programme were to be disbursed to Pakistan in
December, but the government of Pakistan has politely begged off
to take this amount.
As such, in the backdrop of improved economic conditions of
Pakistan, IMF Board has decided that the monitoring of Pakistan's
economy would stop following the closing down of the programme.
Source privy to ministry of finance told that the economic
scenario in Pakistan has greatly improved due to prudent economic
policies of the government.
Pakistan will be issuing Islamic Bonds following completion of
Road Show in next three months.
Sources further told that Modis would be upgrading Pakistan's
credit rating in December.
Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz, talking in this regard to Geo, told
that the fiscal and monetary measures taken by the government
have paved the way for the beginning of a new era of economic
development in Pakistan.(ANI)
