IMPACC USA and the Maine Health Care Association Announce Strategic Partnership

IMPACC USA and the Maine Health Care Association have announced a strategic partnership to deliver web-based training for back injury prevention throughout the State of Maine.

“Back injury and cumulative trauma disorders, known as musculo-skeletal disorders (MSDs), cost the US economy billions of dollars every year and devastate millions of lives,” said IMPACC USA president Bob Patterson. “Our partnership with the Maine Health Care Association has the potential to bring relief to thousands and significantly cut health care costs associated with MSDs in the State of Maine.”
The courses, which cover back injuries and neck-arm-shoulder injuries, will be delivered over the Internet and will be available to both member and non-member participants 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This will allow employees to train at their convenience and reduce any lost productivity associated with group classroom training.

"We are pleased to partner with IMPACC USA to provide our membership with this new educational benefit," said Richard Erb, Maine Health Care Association President and CEO. "Combining quality education with the power of technology, IMPACC will provide our members with valuable employee training programs in a format that meets their scheduling needs."

"The courses, delivered through our web site, will be available 24 hours a day to more than 15,000 employees working in over 150 member nursing homes and assisted living facilities statewide," continued Erb.

“The online courses encourage people to take a more active role in preventing MSD injuries,” said Mr. Patterson. “Multimedia features such as audio, animation, interactive quizzes and questions, and an easy-to-use interface make the IMPACC courses engaging and appeal to all levels of education and computer skills. They are an excellent mode of training for new employees, who are at the greatest risk for MSD injuries, and the training can be done without disrupting work schedules.”

“For people who like to have something in hand, employees will also receive a booklet that reinforces the online training,” said Mr. Patterson. “Plus, as part of the arrangement, Maine Health Care Association members will receive a discount on purchases and telephone technical support for each member facility. They are also eligible for a "free trial program" to evaluate the training model.”
