Mandalay Entertainment has optioned film rights to "The Hookup Handbook: A Single Girl's Guide to Living It Up," which is scheduled to be published in March.
The part satire and part field guide, written by New Yorkers Jessica Rozler and Andrea Lavinthal, postulates how in the modern world of singles looking for love, formal "dating" has been replaced by the more casual "hooking up."
The book is part of Simon & Schuster's new imprint, Simon Spotlight Entertainment, which launched in September and targets the 18-34 demographic. The imprint already has a runaway hit with "He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys," by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, which already has 1.2 million copies in print. "Hookup" is SSE's first book to be optioned.
