Michael Wood, CSCS, was named as one of the Top 100 trainers in the December 2004 issue of Men's Journal. In addition, he was also one of nine trainers named to the magazines "Dream Team" and asked to write a brief workout that focused on speed and agility. The magazine chose the trainers after a process that included interviewing more than 11,000 trainers from 20 major cities across the United States.

Mr. Wood who has been involved in the fitness industry since 1988, is also the founder of the Sports Performance Group (SPG). SPG is a fitness consulting company that has worked with some of the biggest names in the entertainment, business and medical industries.

In 2000 SPG was voted Best of Boston by Boston Magazine. During that time SPG operated a personal training studio in Cambridge, MA on Bow Street in Harvard Square. The company has performed more than 16,000 personal training sessions throughout New England during the past 16 years.

For the past year Wood has been heading up business development at Velocity Sports Performance in Sudbury, MA. Prior to going to Velocity Wood worked as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Connecticut under coach Jerry Martin, MA, CSCS.
