Flowers All Round for Ladies of Wray
There will be blooms all round later this month for the women of Wray as a new attraction opens its doors in the Lancashire village.
As a “thank you” for the support of villagers, the owners of Bridge House Farm Tea Room and Shop in Wray will be giving a free potted plant to every local lady who visits the free attraction 10am – 4pm on Saturday 4th December and Sunday 5th December, 2004.
Dairy farmers, Pat and John Staveley have lived in Wray their whole lives, farming the land around the village from Main Street’s Hoskins Farm. After suffering the ravages of Foot and Mouth and a dwindling farming income, they decided to convert the derelict buildings of the former Bridge House Farm and open a good quality tourist attraction.
After almost five years of planning, Bridge House Farm will open to the public on 11th December, but first, the friends and neighbours who have supported the Staveleys’ plans will be getting an exclusive preview and flowery thanks.
Pat Staveley said, “We have had help and encouragement from so many local people that before we opened our doors to everyone, we wanted to make sure we had shown our deep appreciation of the villagers’ support. We are also very grateful for the financial support we have received from Lancashire Rural Futures, without whom we would never have been able to consider an attraction of this quality.”
Bridge House Farm opens to the villagers of Wray only on Saturday 4th December and Sunday 5th December and to the public from Saturday 11th December. Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking.
Bridge House Farm will be open daily Tuesday to Sunday from 10am. As well as a tea room with traditional home-made food, there will be a gift shop with original crafts, artwork and garden gifts. The first of a series of themed weekend events, Finishing Touches for Christmas, takes place on December 18th and 19th.
