Carefx Corporation announced today that NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) has implemented the Carefx Fusionfx Context Manager™ to bring dramatically streamlined use of computer-based patient information to one of the largest academic healthcare delivery centers in the country. Additionally, NYPH has utilized Carefx services to CCOW enable several of their internally developed applications.
“There are dozens of applications utilized by NYPH clinicians and the need to navigate between them is constant. Patient safety is in the forefront of concern as the clinician changes applications and has to re-identify the patient they are reviewing. The Carefx Fusionfx Context Manager was selected to link the patient between the applications eliminating the need to re-identify the patient and decreasing the risk of adversely effecting patient safety,” said Terrence Macaleer, Carefx Chief Executive Officer.
“The standards-based Carefx solution helps our care providers to become more efficient and accurate in finding relevant clinical information. It provides benefit to our physicians through easier systems access. Fusionfx is a cost-effective and simple solution, and it integrates well within our computing infrastructure for speedy deployment. We are eager to use Fusionfx to integrate additional systems across NYPH,” said Aurelia Boyer, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
The Benefits of Fusionfx Context Manager

These tools allow a healthcare organization to provide single and simultaneous sign-on and common patient selection to multiple applications, along with the ability to augment patient safety by matching context within applications to avoid minor errors. In addition, the product reduces help desk costs and enhances security due to a single username and password. Fusionfx integrates with a healthcare organizations existing LDAP infrastructure without requiring a separate directory. The product supports fat client, Citrix / WTS-enabled, and Web-based applications.
