Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday asked the Indian diaspora in Laos to become India's ambassadors of goodwill and support New Delhi's vision of integrating better with southeast Asian economies.
"In the new vision, we are trying to look east in a special manner," the prime minister told a reception hosted in his honour by Indian Ambassador Tsewang Topden.
"We want each one of you to become our ambassadors of goodwill," he told the guests, who included some 50 members of the Indian community settled in Laos.
Manmohan Singh said India admired the struggle of the Laotian people in reconciliation and development and added that India would like to share its experience in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, small-scale sector and science and technology.
"It is a matter of strength that in the process of reconciliation and development, we have been able to play a good role," he said.
