The  total  production  capacity  of
primary copper, lead and zinc ingots in the country is  4,62,500,
1,99,000 and 67,000 tonnes per year respectively.

According  to  a press release, except Hindustan  Copper  Limited
(HCL),  which  is a Central public sector  undertaking  producing
primary  copper, all other primary producers of copper, lead  and
zinc are under private control.

This information was given by the Minister of Mines,  Sis Ram Ola
in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.(ANI)
