Research and Markets - Web Services Gaining Momentum
Publish Date : 12/5/2004 12:45:00 PM Source : Science and Technology News Onlypunjab.com
Although web services and SOA have been popular technology topics for some time, the Enterprise Adoption of Web Services Survey indicates web services initiatives are increasing across industries. This data suggests web services and SOAs have matured beyond the early adopter stage to mainstream adoption. The survey reveals that a vast majority of enterprises have web services initiatives underway or plan to launch initiatives in the next 12 months. This trend contributes to an excellent customer acquisition environment for software vendors that use SOAs.
The 2004 U.S. Enterprise Web Services Survey revealed that 77% of respondents believe web services will enhance their organization’s capability to collaborate with external parties and 72% believe web services will improve access to corporate information in their enterprise.
In fact, 66% of respondents are currently developing web services initiatives and 34% are managing web services-enabled solutions with continued investments.
Initiatives, such as implementing web services to improve corporate information and extend collaboration, are aimed squarely at content management and portal vendors. This report leverages an enterprise architecture viewpoint of web services applied to content management and a content creation and submission use case via the portal to examine how web services can automate and optimise key processes.
