A popular shopping complex here is waiting to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin's delegation with vodka, momos and Russian flags.
The Yashwant Place complex close to New Delhi's diplomatic enclave, frequented by Russian tourists and diplomats, is all spruced up for the visit of Putin who arrives Friday for the annual summit with India.
A floral welcome had been organised for the delegation, while Russian flags and banners are set to make the visitors more at home here than in any other part of New Delhi.
"When Her Excellency Lyudmilla Putin came the last time, she loved our market and bought stone jewellery from here," Sanjiv Duggal, the secretary of the Yashwant Place Traders Association, explained.
"We would love to have her come to the market again, and hope she has an even better experience."
The traders have not received a confirmation whether Putin would also accompany his wife to the scheduled shopping expedition.
The complex adjoining a popular movie theatre and rows of eatery shops specialising in Chinese fast food - especially momos (stuffed dumplings) - is known for wares like leather, tea, carpet and jewellery.
Two recce delegations have already scouted the complex and, if the shopkeepers are to be believed, quite enjoyed the jaunt.
For the main delegation, the traders association has organised a get-together featuring mainly vodka and momos.
