Kevin Wetherby and his wife Dr. Mary Wetherby collaborated with Mitch Lavin, a musician they found on the Web, to write the song. The Wetherbys were touched by 14-year-old Sarah Hensley’s plight. Her father, Jack Hensley, was a civilian working on Iraqi reconstruction projects for Gulf Supplies and Commercial Services, a company based in the Middle East. He was killed September 21 of this year.

The authors hope that those downloading the song will pass it on to ten others. “We were tired of not being able to help in some way,” said the lyric’s author, Kevin Wetherby. He related that the line from the song “Don’t stand back watching helplessly” reflects how many feel about the war. He feels that the song may help give people a sense of contribution or action. The Wetherbys hope that when someone downloads the song, he or she will send a donation to Sarah Hensley’s trust fund described in detail at www.jackhensley.org.

“We have no way of knowing if donations have been sent, but hope that those listening at least think about the poor kid”, Kevin Wetherby said. Wetherby added that none of the song’s authors or the producer, Over the Edge Studio, know the Hensley family personally. Although the song is dedicated to Hensley, Wetherby hopes that the song will reflect concern for soldiers past and present, families and victims.

The song has been on download.com for only four days and has received twenty-two downloads. One listener on songramp.com commented “ beautiful tribute. . . .”. The song is not written with an obvious pro or anti war sentiment. Wetherby related that listeners would all have their own interpretation.
