Congress president Sonia Gandhi will stop over here Monday en route to Mauritius, party officials said.
She is expected to meet former Kerala chief minister A.K. Antony, state Congress chief Thennala Balakrishnan, convenor of the ruling Congress-led United Democratic Front P.P. Thankachen and senior Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran during the one-hour stopover.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who will be attending a pre-arranged mass contact programme in Kozhikode, will not be able to receive her, a release said.
Gandhi will arrive by a special flight from New Delhi at around noon, officials told IANS.
She will later fly to Mauritius, where she will inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in Port Louis Tuesday.
The centre is named after Gandhi's husband and the former Indian prime minister, whose government helped set up the 40,000 sq ft facility.
India has invested Rs.50 million in the centre, built by the Kolkata-based Indian Council for Science Museums.
