Congress president Sonia Gandhi Sunday said it was her dream to see that every child in the country was covered against all vaccine-preventable diseases.
In a message on the occasion of the anti-polio immunisation drive Sunday, she said: "We are at a critical stage, working hard and hoping to see our country polio free at the earliest."
"It is my dream to see that each and every child of our country is fully covered against all vaccine-preventable diseases."
Gandhi, who is also head of the National Advisory Council that advises the government on major policy issues, said the present government was fully committed (to eradicating polio).
"I am sure that all resources and support have been made available to the states, which in turn are expected to ensure effective implementation of this immunisation programme," she said.
Over 168 million children across the country were administered polio drops Sunday, as part of the drive, popularly called Pulse Polio day.
