Vulcan Minerals Inc. (“the Company” TSX: VUL) announces that drilling on Flat Bay #2 has reached 832 meters and the target zone has been penetrated. Hydrocarbon shows in the form of elevated total gas readings and fluorescence in cuttings have been encountered. Schlumberger Canada Limited will carry out geophysical logging of the hole in the next couple of days. This will enable the Company to decide whether drill stem tests will be carried out.

The Company has contracted the services of Kinetex Inc. of Calgary, AB to carry out a seismic survey in the Northern Bay St. George Basin, Western Newfoundland. The survey will utilize truck-mounted vibrators designed for data acquisition along roads. The Company anticipates acquiring approximately 60 kilometres of data commencing next week. This data will provide further insight into the geologic structure of the basin, most notably over the Hurricane Prospect. It will assist with the definition of future drill locations for the Company’s ongoing exploration program in the basin.
