Sophisticated Chanteuse Avis Harrell Brings Her Jazz/R&B Trio to the Bel Age Hotel

Avis Harrell, “The Queen of Versatility,” will be performing at the Bel Age Hotel with the lush stylings of her R&B/Jazz trio on September 8, 2006 at 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM. The Bel Age is located at 1020 North San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood, California.
Avis, coming off an exciting appearance with the Jimmy McConnell Orchestra at the Monterey Jazz Festival in Pasadena last month, will wrap her sultry vocals around old favorites like “My Funny Valentine,” and “Route 66,” as well as a few warm cover Bosa Nova tunes by Sade’ and Jill Scott. She believes in providing the right type of music for the event and room she is playing. Her talented Jazz & r&b trio, The 360 Degrees Band, will accompany her. Avis draws on a mixture of R&B, jazz and blues on Self Contained, her first solo disc, released in December 2005. Particularly faithful to the jazz style is “Love’s Lullaby,” a Harrell original inspired by the jazz chanteuses she grew up listening to as a child in Washington, D.C. It won’t be long before all of her original songs are recognizable and others will easily sing along.

It is Avis’ uncanny ability to draw upon a mix of musical styles that have made her a popular attraction on Los Angeles’ live music scene and an internationally known song stylist in far-flung places like Tahiti and Japan.
