Rapport International, LLC, a premier language translation agency providing services to companies, government agencies and non-profit organizations around the world today announced its participation in the Global Forum and Marketplace sponsored by Tourism Massachusetts at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Castle on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. The one day forum and business-to-business marketplace for the Massachusetts tourism industry will provide the opportunity for hundreds of key Massachu setts tourism stakeholders to meet and contract business during one-on-one meetings with over 80 international tour operators, travel and trade press and airlines. Twelve of the Commonwealth’s key international markets will be represented at the forum and marketplace; Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, UK, Ireland, Hong Kong and Mainland China
Wendy Pease, Executive Director of Rapport International will present on how “Monolingual Web Sites Lose You Business”. As people around the world increasingly gain access to the Internet, businesses in the United States are experiencing an increase in international business from having a strong web presence – without even targeting off-shore business. Since consumers are more apt to buy from web sites written in the consumer’s native language, companies are finding it worthwhile to translate web pages into other languages.
According to Pease, “Companies such as the tourism providers that will be in attendance at the Global Forum can definitely benefit from translating their web sites. Even though many people in the United States feel that English is an accepted International language, it is not. A potential visitor will still want to read about their US vacation spot in his or her native language.
“Industries such as tourism, marketing consultants, manufacturers and consumer products are a few of the industries that we have seen benefit from having multi-lingual web sites. With a well thought out translation, web design and management plan, any business, small or large can easily have an international presence. The presentation at the Global Forum will guide tourism providers in Massachusetts on how to develop a plan to do so effectively.”
