One of Rentalo's Hawaiian rental properties that offers a wide variety of sports activities is a Hanalei Bay guest house on Kauai, ideal for four, whether family or friends, looking for a holiday or early winter break at a warm weather destination. This guest house has two bedrooms and can accommodate four plus an infant in a crib. Next to the beach, the house is equipped with beach chairs, beach mats, surfboard, golf clubs and snorkeling equipment. Shopping and good restaurants are right in Hanalei, while golf, tennis, a fitness center and horseback riding are two miles away. Nightly rate is $250 for a five-night minimum stay; holidays require a seven-night minimum and cost $2,000.

Another Hawaiian choice in Wailea, Maui's premier destination resort, is a two-bedroom, two-bath spacious condo that sleeps six at Wailea Grand Champions, an area that boasts the best beaches and weather on the island. Two bedrooms have king and queen beds, while living room has convertible queen sofa; there's a full kitchen and generous Lanai with garden and ocean views. Resort is surrounded by a golf course and has tennis courts, two swimming pools, jacuzzis and BBQ areas and is a short walk or ride to restaurants and shops. Nightly rates start at $160 for a three-night minimum stay.

Rentalo lists a three-bedroom, three-bath condo in Wintergreen, a resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, with discounts in Nov.-Dec.; 45 minutes from Charlottesville and 2.45 hours from Washington. The spacious condo has a 20-foot living/dining room with wood-burning fireplace and great eastern view of the Shenandoah Valley. It also has a brand new, fully equipped kitchen, bedroom loft and new comforters on all the beds. Nightly rate through Nov. 30 is $115 and Dec.-March is $135 for a two-night minimum stay.

The South Dakota prairie is a wide open treasure of stars, sunsets, sunrises, wildlife and tranquility and Rentalo has several listings in this area. One is a three-story lodge with all the amenities. The western flavor abounds as the lodge is situated on a four-generation working cattle ranch where visitors can feel free to enjoy the quiet or explore the prairie.

Located in western South Dakota, the comfortable, fully equipped lodge is about an hour's drive from tourist attractions such as Mount Rushmore, The Badlands, Deadwood and Custer State Park. Three floors are available and guests can rent one, two or the entire place, which sleeps eight. The regular house rental is $320 in season (May 30-Nov. 30) and $260 off season (Dec.1-May 29). A new special couples rate for 2 for the entire house is $195 a night or $1,400 weekly in the off season.
