IBS is the first corporate sponsor, or Captain, of a Village in the “6 Villages, 1 Global Fight Against AIDS” program designed by FXB International, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to fight AIDS and support the world’s orphans. The 6 Villages community-building program is based on a proven model developed by FXB over 15 years that results in self-sufficiency and improved lives for the participating children and caregivers.

Key staff members from IBS’ U.S. and London offices will act as Ambassadors for the IBS Rwanda Village, promoting the cause within the company and its local communities and raising the funds required to support the program.

The IBS Rwanda Village is located in Gatenzi, a rural village in the Gitarama region of Rwanda, a Central African country of 8.5 million, and one of the 10 poorest countries in the world. The HIV prevalence rate ranges from eight percent upwards to 25 percent in some regions. UNAIDS estimates that 150 new people are infected every day in Rwanda, and that by the end of 2003, more than 400,000 children had been orphaned by the disease. Due to poverty and poor living conditions, many AIDS orphans and other children are not fed properly, cannot afford medication and cannot attend schools.
