Combined Agents of America, LLC (CAA) announced its participation in a New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) rebuilding project, on September 8th, which was arranged by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) to support Hurricane Katrina victims.
"Having an opportunity to take time and help with the New Orleans rebuilding effort was a truly amazing experience," said Kelli Stanford, president of Ed Weeren Insurance Agency, a CAA member agency. "CAA embraces every chance we have to work with other independent agents for the betterment of peoples' homes and lives. This is something we not only value as individuals but as an organization."
Hundreds of agents and industry representatives attending IIABA's Fall Leadership Conference volunteered their time to the rebuilding effort underway in New Orleans. The volunteers for the NOAHH worked with the staff, qualified homeowners, and sponsors to build simple, affordable homes with long-term, interest-free mortgages. These homes give their future owners an opportunity to build a better future for their families.
"I was very humbled to be involved with the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity rebuilding project. After witnessing firsthand the amount of destruction inflicted upon the New Orleans area, I was pleased to have an avenue to help out with the massive restoration project in progress on the Gulf Coast," said Greg Wassberg, CIC, officer and partner with Crockett Insurance Service, a CAA member agency.
