The Driver Performance Analysis System (DPAS) is a valid and reliable online test that measures and analyzes a driver's traffic related knowledge and skills. Although the ability to control the speed and direction of a motor vehicle is a fundamental and vital driving skill that every delivery driver must possess, he or she must also be able to quickly and accurately collect and process related driver and traffic information to safely and efficiently utilize the nation's large highways and small roads. Especially in the work trucks and vans often employed by small businesses or even government agencies, it is ultimately up to the driver to avoid situations that may cause accidents; DPAS diagnostic data can be used as an accurate evaluator of a driver’s traffic knowledge and skills, including traffic risk recognition and acceptance. DPAS is a crash prevention instrument, but not a crash prediction instrument. Research has shown that drivers with the ability to quickly and accurately collect and process critical driver and traffic information have statistically fewer motor vehicle crashes than drivers that are deficient in this ability. Thus, DPAS measures the driver's skills in collecting and processing the critical traffic information that is essential for safe and efficient motor vehicle operation, generates statistical profiles of the driver's capabilities and deficiencies, and can be used for on-going training, incident or accident retraining, or evaluating new hires.

Dr. Jack Weaver holds an M.S. in Educational Psychology from West Virginia University and a Ph.D. in Psychology (with emphasis in driver behavior) from Florida State University. Dr. Weaver has held administrative positions with the Automotive Safety Foundation, Texas A&M University, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Driver Education Demonstration/ Evaluation Project, and Safe Performance Associates, Inc. In addition, Dr. Weaver has produced driver testing/training video programs for Safe Performance Associates, the State of Florida, the State of Texas, Kawasaki Corporation, the American Association of Community Colleges, Shell Oil Company, AT&T, and the Advanced Driving Skills Institute. He has served as an advisor to the National Association of Governors’ highway safety representatives, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the American Trucking Association, the U.S. Coast Guard, Aetna Insurance Company, the governments of Australia, China, West Germany, Saudi Arabia, American Samoa, and the states of Texas, Montana, West Virginia, California Florida, Georgia and Colorado. Dr. Weaver is also the past president of the American Academy of Safety Education, and has served in leadership positions with several professional organizations including, the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association, the National Safety Council, the Transportation Research Board, the Florida Alliance of Certified Traffic Schools, the American Association for Automotive Medicine and the Alliance for Traffic Safety.
