Concept Behind Memsaab
The seeds of creativity are sown in every dreamer's eye from the moment of awakening, as was with Reena, the spirit behind Memsaab, who simply woke with her Muse, leaving a trail in the vibrant world of contemporary fashion. Only a few designers have consistently stood out for the crowd for talent & attention to aesthetic details, Reena is one such rarity who has carved out her niche in a short span with a clear forte of signature stylistics. Developing a passion for a fabric under the tutelage of mother -in her formative years- she dreamt of weaving in a Leif motif with metaphysical and mystical stories from her intrinsic heritage. Aware that creativity needs the disciple of cut, she completed her associate degree in fashion from the countries premiere fashion institute NIFT, going on to get her degree through Fashion Institute of Technology New York in 1998. Moving back to India to the calling of her roots, Reena wanted to test the learning she had imbibed -in fine art and technology- crossing its parameters with traditional techniques, creating a transition of styles with every silken skein. Reena was one of Punjab's first designers to create both a classical as well as a fusion line in her première collection; that debuted in fall of 1999. Three years and numerous collections later, Reena has garnered high visibility and critical acclaim for being 'a style setting sensation". Experimentation has been the kneel of her research -concepts, mediums and techniques- paying homage to her history and heritage, with elements inspired and infused with her contemporary synergy.
