MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that after an intensive selection process, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) in Pennsylvania has adopted MWH Soft H2OMAP Water Suite software for its full-scale water distribution system GIS and hydraulic model. The choice was made following careful evaluation of a range of functional and technical requirements. The selection underscores MWH Soft's market-leading momentum in advanced geospatial infrastructure modeling solutions in North America.
The Philadelphia Water Department provides drinking water to approximately 1.7 million people in Philadelphia and parts of Lower Bucks County. Its three water treatment plants process a combined average of 270 million gallons of water a day, withdrawing water from the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers for treatment. The treated water is then distributed through nearly 3,300 miles of water mains. The Department will use H2OMAP as the basis for developing a comprehensive GIS-based solution for modeling and managing its drinking water infrastructure and optimizing its capital improvement projects.
The H2OMAP software suite gives water utilities the ability to create and optimize rigorous water supply and distribution models faster and more accurately for superior decision making. Unlike competing products, this innovative new network modeling technology addresses every facet of utility infrastructure management and protection - delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. Drawing on the most advanced numerical computation and object-component geospatial technologies, it effortlessly reads GIS datasets; corrects network topology problems and data flaws; extracts pertinent modeling information; and automatically constructs, skeletonizes, loads, calibrates and generates credible network models with astounding speed. The suite also allows users to share mission-critical GIS and modeling information in real time over the Internet and corporate intranets. Once models have been established, users can easily run and simulate various conditions, pinpoint system deficiencies, and determine the most cost-effective improvements to achieve optimum performance and regulatory compliance.
"H2OMAP Water Suite software continues to be a vital strategic tool for advanced water utilities and engineering companies around the world," said J. Erick Heath, P.E., Vice President of Sales and Client Relations at MWH Soft. "Its powerful network analysis and optimization functionalities, complete GIS and RDBMS interoperability, sophisticated results presentation tools, and greater cost efficiencies not only improve their business processes and the speed with which confident, effective decisions are made, but also helps them plan, design, operate, and maintain better systems. This, in turn, enables them to improve communication and forge closer ties with their customers. These invaluable strengths translate into a clear competitive advantage."
"Speed, ease of use, reliability, flexibility, value, and power are the words that best describe our geospatial modeling solutions," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "The fact that leading utilities like PWD choose MWH Soft as their solution partner demonstrates the superiority of our products. We're proud to know that our software applications are in place at many of the world's best-run utility companies of every size, helping them meet their corporate and strategic goals and achieve world-class performance at breakthrough cost savings."
