Apache Indian was the first Asian DJ to have his own show on National Radio 1 in the UK (1994/5). This groundbreaking show introduced a seamless mix of music ranging from Reggae, Bhangra, Hip Hop and Soul. As well as interviewing top artists like Gregory Isaacs, Shaggy, Sweety Irie, Tena Fly and others, the show recorded live sessions by Buju Banton and Malkit Singh.
Apache Indian is a singer and songwriter and has written all the songs that he has performed. Apache has written and recorded over a hundred songs over the past 11 years. He started writing from the early age of 14 when he was heavily involved with the Reggae Sound System scene in his hometown of Handsworth, Birmingham (UK).
Apache has always reflected his thoughts and opinions through his lyrics without any reservations. He has spoken out about subjects such as arranged marriages, problems of religion and caste, aids, alcoholism, racism, war, crime and drugs...
... But Apache says that his lyrics reflect his life and feelings generally. songs reflect emotions of anger, sadness, concern, pity or simply, happiness and fun. Songs such as Boomshackalak, Raggamuffin Girl and Jump Up are just about having a good time!
