Harbhajan Shera Punjabi Music Star : Onlypunjab Specialz
A few questions with him
Tell us something about your self?
It's a great privilege introducing my self, Harbhajan Shera . Born with the vocal cords on 15th March 1973 at Delhi, brought up at Industrial Capital of Punjab, Ludhiana, with an attitude to do something creative, something which always attracts my childhood and youth to follow the steps of my idol the great national and international Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan.
Whom have you got training from?
Music is in my veins, my father Late Shri Kirpal Singh Gill was himself a singer. He unearthed the talent in me at early age of 10 and encouraged me to persue singing. I started learning classical and semi-classical from Guru Shri Harpal Snehi of Kharar.
When were your singing talent noticed?
I did my schooling in Central school Chandigarh and right from very first day my music teacher acknowledged the singing talent in me. I started participating at regional and national level school competitions, which contribute a lot in boosting my confidence. At the age of 15, I started giving public performances on stage all over Punjab.
Is this your debut Album?
No, My first studio experience was a huge success and name in Punjab, titled 'Teri Yaad Chandriye' released under the banner "CMC" in 1994, this cassette helped me a lot at professional front and I toured all over Europe, Canada and America for stage performances. My next release was with Tips
' Tere Barabar Nachna'.
Where you are more comfortable, Studio or Stage?
I consider my self a singer first than a performer but, it's my fans opinion that on stage I am electrifying. Yes one thing is there on stage you are always on your toes never relaxed, as a little mistake can be embracing. I normally enjoy more with public because you get your rewards at same moment.
Comment upon the tie-up with the record Company?
Till 1997, I was some how not satisfied with the things had been for me. But my introduction with
Mr. Gaurav Trehan of CATRACK Cassettes Industries has changed the whole scenario and I found the right direction to full fill my singing career. I just feel it's my second home. The Company works very hard to promote right talent. My first release for CATRACK Cassettes was 'Ghar Puch Ke Morh Ton' is 1998 was well received by the Punjabi music lovers.
Tell us about your new Album Aaja Aaja Ni Padosne?
This was the best opportunity in my singing career and I just grabbed it with both hands. Music Director of this Album is Tejwant Kittu and lyrics are penned by well known poets Gill Surjit,Raj Kakra, Devinder Khannewala, Jeet Chandigarhiya, Sunny Maan, Raj Brar & Devinder Singh. We all worked hard and tried to give all colors of life like, happiness, joy, fun and sad songs t make this Album complete. The video which was shoot in Mumbai is of title song "Aaja Aaja Ni Padosne" comprising my self and Air hostess turned model Apsara. It's a light romantic song and picturised at college campus. After the positive response of this song the company decided to shoot one more video of the same album, that was a very difficult time for the company as they were not able to decide as which song to be picturise, as all songs are simply great . After a long discussion Mr. Trehan decided to picturise all the songs of the album and three more videos of this album have been shot. One of them is a Medley of three songs, all my videos are directed by Mr. Azeem Parkar from Mumbai.
The people behind your success?
I would like to thanks personally Mr. Jagtar Jaggi a well known artist of Punjab, Mr. Surinder Singh sub-editor Punjabi Tribune, my family who always stood by me whole heartedly and pushed me in my struggling days.
What are your future plans?
I want to prove my talent to the world. I believe in destiny and I am quite sure it's in my favor. I would try hard and make it big with my positive attitude and self determination.
And at last special thanks to my Guru Harpal Sheni, Mr. Gaurav Trehan and my family.
