Combine two entrepreneurs with vision, ingenuity and a passion for aviation and you get HangarHunter.com, a new website created to connect buyers and sellers of airplane hangars.
Creators of the website, Scott Frederiksen and Todd Kimmes, have been friends since the fourth grade, causing mischief then and creating opportunities now. Both are recreational pilots and avid sportsmen. Frustrated in the search of hangars for their own planes, it became evident that the process is difficult and actually involves a substantial amount of luck. Scott, a commercial real estate broker, and Todd, owner of a technology firm, know through experience that finding the right real estate at the right time is a challenging task. In residential real estate, they have the Multiple Listings Service. In commercial real estate, there are variety of websites that link buyers and sellers. In this niche however, nothing comparable existed.
Scott and Todd discovered that of the hundreds of websites devoted to aviation, none provided this specific service, so they created one. There the idea blossomed and the two worked with a talented web designer to create HangarHunter.com.
There are a number of features built into the site that allow the visitor to customize their experience - whether searching for a hangar or listing one for sale or lease. Visitors to the site can identify specific parameters and that will instantly generate an e-mail alert when something matching their criteria becomes available.
The site also allows the visitor to:
- Search for hangars nationwide by airport, city or state
- View a directory of hangar manufacturers and accessory distributors
- Post a hangar for sale or lease
- Search the FAA database for airport information and charts
- View featured hangars and photos of cool hangars submitted by site members
- Access weather conditions at specific airports
In addition to all of the functions relating to hangars, the site also offers numerous aviation links as well as latest in aviation news.
Finally, the coolest thing about this site is that it is entirely free. There is no charge to post your listing or to search the database. Scott and Todd's philosophy is rooted in the hobby they are passionate for and dedicated to - it is a unique and specialized community that demands a unique and specialized level of communication.
