Publish Date : 10/2/2007 1:38:00 AM   Source : Travel and Hotels News Onlypunjab.com
Prague is one of Europe's finest cities. There has never been a better time to visit the Czech Republic's capital city and experience the stunning architecture, lively culture and welcoming people.

The only problem with visiting the city is that there are just so many things to see! Fortunately, our handy guide to the highlights of Prague will point out all of the sights that you must see while you're in the city:

1. Charles Bridge: One of the best medieval bridges in Europe and the centre for many of the city's artists and musicians. The bridge is packed with tourists and locals during the day. Climb one of the towers for a great view of the city.

Many visitors to Prague miss out on taking a stroll along the Charles Bridge at night. Make sure that you don't make the same mistake! The view from the bridge after dark is very spectacular, with the castle lit up on the hill above.

2. Old Town Square: The Old Town Square is only a short walk from the Charles Bridge, via some streets that house a number of shops selling antiques and gifts. The square is most famous for its astronomical clock, which comes to life on the hour.

3. Wenceslas Square: The centre of the modern heart of the city, Wenceslas Square is renowned for its part in the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Named after the famous Bohemian Duke.

4. The Castle District: Perched up on a hill over-looking the rest of the city, the massive castle district includes the impressive cathedral. There is plenty to see here and there are also wonderful views over the Vltava to the city below.

5. The Jewish Quarter: The Jewish Quarter is well worth a visit, with its old synagogues and impressive architecture.

The above five sights must be seen if you are visiting Prague. There are plenty of other wonderful sights too, plus numerous wonderful experiences. If you get the chance, you should certainly visit one of the city's beer halls or beer gardens.

Make use of the city's trams too - they provide a great way of getting to see more of Prague.

It is possible to travel to Prague independently but, should you wish to take advantage of an escorted tour, there are a number of tour operators that offer escorted holidays to Prague.
