First thing I did was meet up with my online girlfriend Stephanie who I'd been dating for nearly 5 weeks online. One of my longest girlfriends I must say. Shock is about the only work I can use to explain the brief meeting, as she was nothing like she explained she would be and I didn't expect her to bring along a boyfriend. None the less they offered me a lift to the city but won't give my bag back on arrival. Finally I got it but only after I withdrew $600.00 AUD from an ATM machine. Nice hay...
With Stephanie out of the equation I had no wear to stay so I ended up on a hostel and started drinking most days with the other backpackers. Weeks passed and then one night out on the town and at the end of my money bumped into a couple of guys, Adam and Jason who said they were Managing Partners in a Business called Global Solutions IT. It was hard to believe as Adam seemed more like a rock star and Jason was to drunk to stand up. They said they were in need of web developers to work on Australian website design projects after I explained my skills with PHP, Flash and databases.
Next day I showed up at the Global Solutions it offices and started what turned out to be the turning point of my entire holiday. Working at Global Solutions IT Australia was a brilliant experience. I was able to streamline their website design process, develop e-commerce websites using credit cards and member logins and even help them move office to a new location in Melbourne. In the end leaving Melbourne was difficult because of my close connection to global solutions it.
Now I'm back in the UK but I still do website design for Global Solutions IT remotely. I'm actually hoping to go and work for the GSI Hong Kong Office early next year as they have offered me a position.
