If arriving by car once you arrive on the ferry, it is about a 5 minute drive to Gibsons BC There are many neat artisan studios and communities beyone Gibsons, including Roberts Creek, Wilson Creek and Sechelt, so allow a little longer than 1 day if you would like to visit some of the communities beyond Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.
Once you arrive in Gibsons, you are in a really neat little spot. The town of Gibsons is truly a beautiful seaside community! There are many beaches, a couple of marinas and some of the neatest little shops you will find. There are no major hotel chains on the Sunshine Coast, so your best bet is choosing one of the many Bed & Breakfasts in the area. There are all types of options from a hostel, located in lower Gibsons to high end luxury spa type Bed & Breakfasts, some are ocean front and some offer in-suite spa services.
The area is known as the"Home of the Beachcombers" and the longest running TV series in Canada filmed on location in the villagefor over 19 years.
There are some great local cafe's to enjoy as well unique artisan gifts and wares. There are several galleries and gift shops that line the streets of the picturesque seaside village. A site to see is the tropical vegetation in this mild climate area. Bananas, Palm Trees, Ginger and other tropical pants thrive in the community that as also won awards for its beautiful gardens.
There are plenty of outdoor activities as well, boating, scuba diving, hiking, mountain biking, and a scenic stroll along the village sea walk are just a few of the activities you can enjoy. There is even a 'swanky' oyster bar for you to enjoy on the boardwalk below Molly's Reach DIner.
Just over an hour from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver BC this is a must do trip if you are in the area.
