Publish Date : 10/17/2007 9:12:00 PM   Source : Travel and Hotels News Onlypunjab.com
The Journey Museum is located at 222 New York Street, Plaza Holiday Inn. The Museum features four major prehistoric and historic collections that tell the story of the Western Great Plains as told by the Lakota people and the pioneers who shaped its past to the scientists who study it today.

The collections are:

• The Museum of Geology: Fossils that document the dinosaurs and rock formations that guard the gold; a star-studded darkness representing billions of years of unrecorded time; discover a geologic cross section of the Black Hills that shows how this region was formed over the course of 2.5 billion years. Exhibits include bones of dinosaurs.
• The Archaeological Research Center: Examines the lives of our early ancestors, from ancient hunters who lived in the Black Hills at the end of the ice age to the mining settlements of the 19th century. Features an archaeological dig, and artifacts from the last 10,000 years. Talk with archaeologists as they put together the clues brought forth from the soil.
• The Sioux Indian Museum: Features a 200 year timeline about the epic story of the Lakota nation. Learn from Lakota elders and their descendants how the Lakota people lived, hunted, played and fought. Hear stories of tales and traditions of the Lakota culture. See legends of the sacred Paha Sapa (Black Hills).
• The Minnilusa Pioneer Museum: A journey that leads to when mountain men, military expeditions and miners first went to the Black Hills. Illuminated story walls guide from the European settlers first encounter of the Black Hills to the historic Battle of Little Big Horn and to the modern-day reconciliation with Wounded Knee and other historical events.
