International spirit and openness to everything new have also influenced the city of wines. In addition to traditional wine types, such as Chasselas and Gamay, more and more variants appear here. But, despite its enthusiasm over everything new, citizens of Geneva never forget about their traditional dishes such as classic perch fillet or Longeole sausage.
We advise you to visit the Michelin-awarded Domaine de Chateauvieux restaurant located 15 minutes walk from the Satigny station.
Watch Valley. Three Lakes Region. The land of specialties.
Lake Neuchatel, Morat and Bienna form a part of the Watch Valley, the territory of the accurate timing, and a part of the calm Three Lakes Region.
The Three Lakes Region comprises French-speaking and German-speaking territories. Thanks to the region's southern location, the place is ideal for production of such wines as classic Chasselas and Pinot Noir, as well as new types which are very popular in Switzerland nowadays, like Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay, Gamaret and Garanoir.
Vineyards bathe in the sun in summer time and are covered with fog in autumn. In winter, lakes protect them from harsh temperatures. When coming here, guests get acquainted with the lakesides of Neuchatel, Lake Biel-Bienne and Lake Wohlen, and their varied local cuisine. Baked perch and pike, and fish fillet with whine sauce are traditional local dishes.
If you go further to the Watch Valley, into Val-de-Travers and Vallon de St-Imier, you will find yourself in a region of sausages (Saucisson Neuchatelois, Sauccisse d'Ajoie) and cheese (Vacherin Mont-d'Or, Tete de Moine).
Lake Geneva. In the culinary heart of Switzerland.
Lake Geneva (sometimes also called Leman) is like a huge croissant between the French Haute-Savoie and Swiss canton. The name derives from Roman and means "big water". Swiss slopes are lit with sun and create unique beautiful landscapes. This is the place where many people would like to live. Slopes of La Cote form a famous wine-making region. Such names as Mont-sur-Rolle, Fechy, Epesses, Dezaley and St.Saphorin are well-known to those who value Chasselas wine. Chablis is located not by the lake, but by the Rhone river. The fourth wine region is Cotes de l'Orbe, Bonvillars and Vully to the north in the direction of the Three Lakes Region. Wines of canton Vaud are produced according to traditional methods. Local wine-makers produce varied and high-rate wines, which conform to the highest standards.
